Founding partner, SourceOwls

Dean Garamella

I run a recruiting firm and I build the machines that run it. Most of what used to be somebody's week here is now an agent: finding the companies, reading the market, screening the work, drafting the outreach. The judgement stays human. The typing does not.

About

A recruiter who started building his own tools.

I have spent my career on the recruiting side, running searches for companies from startups to the very large, and I co founded SourceOwls to fix the part of it that never worked: one agency, one recruiter, one address book, against a role that needed a specialist.

The firm

SourceOwls puts a team of manufacturing, logistics and automation specialists on every search rather than one generalist. One agreement, one account manager, several networks that barely overlap. That is the whole argument, and it is why the firm exists.

The build

Somewhere along the way I stopped waiting for software that did what I needed and started building it. Now most of the operation runs on agents I wrote: they find the companies, read the hiring signals, screen against the brief, draft the outreach and stage it for a human to approve.

The position I hold

Agents do not replace recruiters. They remove the part of recruiting that was never recruiting: the prospecting, the chasing, the re explaining, the week lost to a search that was never real. What is left is the judgement, and that is the part worth paying a person for.

What I read to keep up.

Recruiting is being rebuilt by people who mostly do not work in recruiting, so half of this list is not about hiring at all. Every link here was checked before it was published. This list grows.
